JAHAZ MAHAL(SHIP PALACE) IN MANDU, MADHYA PRADESH
Jahaz Mahal is located at Mandu, Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the best monumental buildings in Mandu. It is a must see place for tourists who wants to do sightseeing in Mandu. Jahaz Mahal is surrounded by two artificial lakes named Munj Talao and Kapur talao. Because of surrounding pond water it looks like a floating structure under water and hence this place is named as Jahaz Mahal. In English it is also named as Ship Palace. Ship means Jahaz and Palace means Mahal.
Jahaz Mahal has double storeyed building which is situated on a narrow strip of land. It is 115 meters in length and 15 meters in width. Mandu Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Khilji has built this Palace in mid of 15th century for accommodation of women. Jahaz Mahal is a very good example of creative designs. All the windows and Passages are designed with arches in different designs.
How to reach Jahaz mahal?
By Air: To reach Jahaz mahal by air, Indore Airport is the nearest airport. It is the best option if you want to reach by air because Indore is well connected with other cities of India. From airport you can take a taxi to reach mandu.
By Train: Indore Junction is the best option to reach jahaz mahal by train because Indore junction is the nearest junction from Jahaz mahal. From Indore railway station you can take a taxi to reach Mandu.
By Road: Mandu is well connected by road from all the cities of India. You can directly reach Mandu via Road from any place in India.
