Brief History of Jahangir Mahal
This mahal was built by King vir singh Deo in 17th century in Honor of Mughal King Jahangir. There was a fight done between Akbar and his son Jahangir. Akbar Sent Abul Fazi to kill his son Jahangir. But Vir singh Helped to Jahangir in this fight and defeat theAbul Fazi. Vir Singh presented Abul Fazi's head to the prince Jahangir as sign of his loyalty. Prince Jahangir was impressed with this loyalty and friendship of Vir singh. After 3 years when Akbar died Jahangir decided to give the bundelkhand to vir singh. Jahangir also came to bundelkhand in Vir Singh's coronation. Because of this Vir singh has built a Jahangir mahal in honor of Prince jahangir. So friends this was the history of Jahangir Mahal and why Vir singh has built this beautiful Mahal in honor of Jahangir.
Jahangir Mahal is also known by too many names which includes Orchha Palace , Citadel of Jahangir , Mahal-e-Jahangir Orchha and Jahangir Citadel . Jahangir Mahal is built in indo-islamic Styles. You might be shocked after hearing that it includes 100 roomes in it. Apart from rooms Hanging Balconies and Some courtyards also included in structure of Jahangir Mahal. Entrance of Jahangir Mahal is in east side and on sides of entrance there are two stone elephants with hanging bell are situated.
I suggest you to visit Jahangir Mahal in between october to march. It is the best time to take visit of Jahangir mahal because of cool temperature. It may become uncomfortable in monsoon . Please make sure that Timing of Jahangir Mahal for visitors is 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.
